Dr. Kevin M. Rufner is a board-certified gastroenterologist with Colorado Gastroenterology. He treats all aspects of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disease. In addition, he also has special interest in inflammatory bowel disease and other immune disorders of the gut. He is a member of the AGA, ACG, ASGE, and Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.

Why did you choose to specialize in Gastroenterology?
I love being a Gastroenterologist because of my breadth of practice and my impact on health.
As a Gastroenterologist, I get to solve complex medical diseases with keen intellect, counsel on general health and well-being akin to a primary physician, and perform endoscopy to treat anatomical disease as a precise surgeon…often all in the same day!
Through Gastroenterology I get to prevent cancer on a daily basis, help ill young patients return to healthy productive lives, help older patients maintain their health and quality of life, and be the caring hand during tragic illness.
Do you have a specialty of interest in Gastroenterology?
I treat all aspects of gastrointestinal and liver disease with a specific interest in inflammatory bowel disease and immune disorders of the gut.
What do you and your family enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy skiing, mountain biking, and cycling here in the amazing Rocky Mountains. I enjoy escaping to the ocean for scuba diving and the feel of sand on my feet. And if the weather is bad, I stay inside and play the blues on my guitar.

Dr Rufner is an excellent doctor. He is well informed on current research regarding liver enzymes/function. He takes the time to educate patients in a way that is understandable and he spends time answering questions without making patients feel rushed.
Dr. Rufner is an excellent specialist. He has always seen me as a person not a condition or an illness. I have always felt like I was in good hands and that my best interests are first and foremost.
Good experience with Dr. Rufner. The facility and staff were over the top nice and pleasant. My only ding is that I had an extra 45 minutes waiting time on gurney due to backup but I was completely understanding and took a nap.
This was my first appointment with Dr. Rufner and I understand why he has so many glowing reviews. He answered all of my questions in a professional and kind manner, and he took the time to discuss my medical history to make sure I will have the best of care during my procedure. Dr. Rufner is prepared ahead of time for my appointment and is so articulate at explaining what my prognosis and treatment will be. He’s also the first doctor that has genuinely cared about my liver diagnosis and how to reverse the damage of my liver. I’m comfortable talking to him about anything that’s going on and also respect that he personally understands mental health on top of endocrinology. I would highly suggest Dr. Rufner a million percent.

Dr. Rufner performed an endoscopy and colonoscopy on me this month. I greatly appreciate his diligence in determining the cause of my symptoms and offering expert health recommendations. In my opinion, he's an awesome doctor. I feel confident trusting his diagnosis and course of treatment. He's thorough and takes time to explain his diagnosis and treatment options. He never gives me the rush-act. He's caring and compassionate. I highly recommend Dr. Rufner for your gastroenterology needs.

Dr Rufner is excellent! I love how he drew a picture of what was going on. He knew what the problem without ever physically examining me. This doctor really knows his stuff! He spoke quite authoritatively regarding my diagnoses and offered valuable explanation regarding his determination of what was causing my symptoms. I felt I could place my confidence in this physician because he was transparent as he offered knowledge about what was causing my symptoms. I felt better emotionally, mentally, and I began tfelling better physically after following his prescription. I highly, highly recommend Dr Kevin Rufner and his medical office. Colonoscopy: If you need to have one, Dr Rufner in Lowry is the GI doc to see. Dr Rufner teams with experienced anesthesiologist and nurses. He was one of Dr Mallory, retired GI who taught gastroenterology at UC medical school to this generation of doctors.
